With MicroSub+™ systems, the power is built right into the subwoofer system. Housing a proprietary Class D amplifier, this incredible subwoofer system utilizes JL's exclusive DCD™ amplifier technology to extract maximum output from its specially engineered, ultra low-impedance TW1 driver. By combining direct power conversion with an ultra-high current output section, DCD™ amplifiers are free of conventional switching power supplies, enabling them to generate remarkable power with unprecedented efficiency.
Key to the enclosure’s performance is its efficient slot-ported design and precise tuning of its 10TW1 subwoofer driver. Extensive interior bracing permits the use of thinner wall material that maximizes the enclosure's internal volume relative to its exterior volume. The port wraps around two walls of the enclosure to produce the necessary low tuning frequency that ensures excellent extension and response smoothness. The flared port entry and exit further enhance sound quality by minimizing air-flow noises through the port.
Integration to OEM and aftermarket head units is a snap thanks to a variety of input options and automatic turn-on capability (via signal sensing or DC offset sensing). Also included is a variable frequency low-pass filter (50-200 Hz), along with output polarity control switch. Adding an optional RBC-1 remote level control (sold separately) lets you control subwoofer levels directly from the driver’s seat. A quick-disconnect power connector makes it easy to remove the subwoofer when you need the extra space. JL Audio's patented, chamber-coupled port design (U.S. patent #6,625,292) wraps around the inner enclosure boundary and terminates on one side of the woofer, coupling the port output to the woofer's direct output. This enclosure design has been carefully engineered to the optimum ported alignment for the 10W3v3, and has been fine-tuned through extensive real-world listening. This efficient system will produce superb output with as little as 150W of amplifier power, but performs best with 300 - 500W of power.

The 10" TW3 thin subwoofer driver by JL Audio delivers a powerful combination of shallow mounting depth and excursion capability. In fact, they are capable of greater excursion than JL's W3v3 subwoofers!
JL Audio’s patented thin-line woofer technology compresses the architecture of the 10TW3 using a “concentric tube” structure built into the injection-molded cone body. This structure supports the voice coil and a full annular spider, while permitting the placement of the large motor structure further forward in the speaker than with conventional 10-Inch thin subwoofer designs.

The JL Audio 10" TW1 automotive thin subwoofer driver chassis offers a shallow mounting depth and excellent linear excursion capability while requiring a small enclosure (0.35 cu.ft. / 10 liters). The cast alloy frame design on the JL 10TW1 is capable of operating in very tight spaces like under-seat installations in trucks.
The 10TW1 design uses a "concentric tube" structure built into the injection-molded cone body. This structure supports the voice coil and a full annular spider, while permitting the placement of a large motor structure further forward in the speaker than with conventional designs.
The 10TW1 thin subwoofer also features a clever frame design that minimizes the frontal clearance required for the excursion of the driver. This is accomplished by recessing the suspension attachment surface, so that most of the forward excursion occurs within the frame's dimensions. Thanks to this feature, the 10TW1 requires only 0.87 inches (22 mm) of frontal clearance, even with its grille installed. This allows for more efficient use of space and increased enclosure volume within a given overall depth.
Although the JL Audio 10TW1-2 and 10TW1-4 thin subwoofer drivers are optimized for an enclosure much smaller than most other 10 inch subwoofer drivers, they never sound like a big woofer struggling in a tiny box...instead, the 10TW1's delivers all the rich, deep, controlled bass you have come to expect from a JL Audio subwoofer system.

Installation Note: Installs behind the seats. Tools on the hump must be removed to install. You will not have to take out your jack or cut off the bolt that holds your tool kit in place. The main limitation is depth. This truck seems to have less space behind the seats than the previous model, so speaker depth is somewhat limited. Check out the speaker depth guide before buying your subs. You will likely have to sacrifice the last 2-3 clicks on your seat travel to give the box and subs enough space. In most cases, this will still leave you with plenty of legroom to drive comfortably while enjoying your new boom.

The JL Audio 10" W1v3 subwoofer driver is a very suitable option when space is limited with smaller amplifiers. It features a low mounting depth of 4.6 inches and a compact motor structure that allows it to comfortably fit in tight mounting locations. There is no pole vent on the rear of the subwoofer which allows the motor structure to be placed directly against an enclosure boundary. Excellent excursion capability and linearity allow the 10W1v3 to reproduce sub-bass with shocking extension and quality.
The JL Audio 10W1v3 is best used with an amplifier in the 75W - 300W RMS range and is optimized to operate in a compact 0.55 cu. ft. (15.57 l) sealed enclosure.
