TW1-Series 12-Inch 300-Watt Subwoofer Driver, 2-Ohm or 4-Ohm SVC The 12" TW1 thin subwoofer driver by JL Audio has a shallow mounting depth while maintaining excellent excursion capability in a thin mounty chassis design to fit into an enclosure no bigger than (0.65 cu.ft. / 18.4 liters). This 12TW1 subwoofer is capable of operating in extremely tight spaces including under-seat installations in trucks and other automotive applications requiring a compact, low profile subwoofer design. JL Audio's patented thin-line woofer technology utilizes a "concentric tube" structure built into the injection-molded cone body supporting the voice coil and spider. This patented design places the large motor structure further forward in the speaker than conventional thin subwoofer designs. The JL Audio 12TW1 sub also features a chassis design that minimizes the top clearance required for the linear excursion limits of the subwoofer driver. This is accomplished by recessing the suspension attachment surface, so that most of the forward excursion occurs within the frame's dimensions. The 12TW1 requires only 0.87 inches (22 mm) of frontal clearance with or without the subwoofer grille installed. The JL Audio 12" 12TW1-2 and 12TW1-4 subwoofer drivers are optimized for an enclosure much smaller than any other JL Audio twelve-inch subwoofer driver, it never sounds like a big woofer struggling in a tiny box...instead, it delivers all the rich, deep, controlled bass you have come to expect from a JL Audio subwoofer system. The cast alloy frame design on the JL 10TW1 is capable of operating in very tight spaces like under-seat installations in trucks. The 10TW1 design uses a "concentric tube" structure built into the injection-molded cone body. This structure supports the voice coil and a full annular spider, while permitting the placement of a large motor structure further forward in the speaker than with conventional designs. The 10TW1 thin subwoofer also features a clever frame design that minimizes the frontal clearance required for the excursion of the driver. This is accomplished by recessing the suspension attachment surface, so that most of the forward excursion occurs within the frame's dimensions. TW5-Series 13.5-Inch 600-Watt Thin Subwoofer Driver, 2-Ohm or 4-Ohm SVC The JL Audio 13.5" TW5v2 thin subwoofer driver uses a chassis with a “concentric tube” structure that supports the 7-inch diameter voice coil and the suspension attachments. This permits placement of the large motor structure much further forward in the subwoofer chassis than with conventional thin sub designs, while allowing excellent linear excursion capability and mechanical stability. The 13TW5v2 improves upon the original 13-Inch TW5 driver with 13% greater linear excursion capability. The cast alloy chassis has also been modified for greater strength and the redesigned motor now features an annular vent. The v2 is available in single 2-ohm and single 4-ohm voice coil configurations. In keeping with its “tight-spaces” mission, the 13TW5v2 is optimized for enclosures that are far smaller than most 12-inch woofers require and only a bit larger than the air space needs of a typical, small-box 12-inch woofer. The mounting system is designed to fit in about the same footprint as a typical 12-inch woofer. The JL Audio 13TW5v2-2 and the 13TW5v2-4 thin subwoofers are best used with amplifier power in the 250-Watt - 600-Watt range and is optimized to operate in a 0.80 cu. ft. (22.7 l) sealed enclosure.
