Amplifiers with a Power Output Rating of 500-Watts x 1-Channel, 4-Ohm Final Impedance

Amplifiers with a Power Output Rating of 500-Watts x 1-Channel, 4-Ohm Final Impedance

RMS power: This rating of any amplifier is the continuous power rating that an amp is designed to output at a maximum continued volume rating. The RMS power specification is one of two numbers to go by when pairing your speakers with an amplifier, not the only 2 but a good starting point. As an example, a speaker driver with a 500-Watt, or 500W for short, RMS rating should be paired with a five-hundred-watt RMS amplifier. We usually recommend an amp to be over powered by 10% RMS so that the power-plant does not have to work at 100% capacity to get 100-percent efficiency from your speakers. This will keep your amplifier from overheating during long periods of continuous operation.

Ohms: Is the resistance rating of an amp and is the second most important when pairing drivers with amplifiers. A power-plant that is 500W @ 4-ohm might put out 1000-Watts @ 2Ω. When purchasing an amplifier, the correct pairing of a speaker’s RMS wattage and Ohm ratings with an amp’s output power rating is absolutely essential.

HD-Series 5-Channel Class-D System Amplifier, 100-Watts x 4ch + 500-Watts x 1ch @ 1.5-4-Ohms Thanks to its ability to act as a "one-box solution", the HD900/5 is ideal for installations where space is at a premium and sound quality is the paramount goal. While extremely compact, this amazing amplifier will comfortably drive a complete high-performance car audio system: that is, four satellite speaker systems and a subwoofer system... with a very serious 900 watts of power! Using JL's Single Cycle Control switching design and R.I.P.S. technology, the HD900/5 delivers 100W x 4 to its four main channels, plus a very meaty 500W to its subwoofer channel. Thanks to R.I.P.S., high power can be delivered over a wide range of load impedances, while the tight power supply regulation keeps distortion down, maximizing sound quality. From a pure sound quality perspective, we invite you to compare the real-world, in-car performance of this amplifier to any other amplifier on the market, of any type, at any price. This amplifier features a brushed aluminum finish with black powder-coated cast alloy heat sinks and bottom panel. A black powder-coated, gasketed cover is also provided to protect the controls.
