The design of the chassis allows an average mounting depth with no pole-vent on the back side of the magnet so the rear of the motor structure can be placed directly against an enclosure boundary. This 12" subwoofer can reproduce sub-bass with shocking extension and quality. The JL Audio 12W1v3-2 and 12W1v3-4 subwoofers are best used with an amplifier in the 75W - 300W range and is optimized to operate in a compact 1.10 cu. ft. (31.5 l) sealed enclosure. It features a low mounting depth of 4.6 inches and a compact motor structure that allows it to comfortably fit in tight mounting locations. There is no pole vent on the rear of the subwoofer which allows the motor structure to be placed directly against an enclosure boundary. Excellent excursion capability and linearity allow the 10W1v3 to reproduce sub-bass with shocking extension and quality. This permits placement of the large motor structure much further forward in the subwoofer chassis than with conventional thin sub designs, while allowing excellent linear excursion capability and mechanical stability. The 13TW5v2 improves upon the original 13-Inch TW5 driver with 13% greater linear excursion capability. The cast alloy chassis has also been modified for greater strength and the redesigned motor now features an annular vent. The v2 is available in single 2-ohm and single 4-ohm voice coil configurations. In keeping with its “tight-spaces” mission, the 13TW5v2 is optimized for enclosures that are far smaller than most 12-inch woofers require and only a bit larger than the air space needs of a typical, small-box 12-inch woofer. The mounting system is designed to fit in about the same footprint as a typical 12-inch woofer.
