The main limitation is depth. This truck seems to have less space behind the seats than the previous model, so speaker depth is somewhat limited. Since the Type R platform, Alpine’s R-Series sound system family has been known for its incredible output and reliable performance. Now Alpine introduces the next-generation of sound performance with the 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers with even more bass output.
The 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers now feature larger, double-stacked magnets that contribute more motor force for deeper bass and tighter bass control from the subwoofer cone compared to the previous generation. An integrated Faraday ring minimizes distortion for cleaner bass output. A Kevlar-treated cone ensures durability in the subwoofer for reliable performance, even at high volumes.
A new polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap ensures rigidity while also providing incredible internal damping (vibration absorption) to smooth out the bass response and reproduce tight bass. This premium, unique material also has higher heat reliability that ensures non- stop bass performance.
The 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers contain a Dual Voice Coil (DVC) with easy configuration jumpers that allow for flexible applications. A new “EZ- Change” twist-lock grille mounting system makes it easy to install and remove an optional grille without mounting screws for added protection to the cone. The R2-W10D2 and R2-W10D4 is compatible with the KTE-10G Grille System (sold separately).
The 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers contain Alpine’s High Amplitude Multi- Roll (HAMR) Surround Technology. This rubber surround allows the subwoofer cone to efficiently move air while staying cool. This technology allows for 20mm of total cone excursion and motion that creates incredible accuracy from the subwoofer.

R-Series Loaded 600-Watt Thin 10-Inch 2-Ohm Subwoofer Enclosure
Now you don’t have to choose between bass and space! Alpine’s R-Series Shallow preloaded subwoofer enclosure measures at a minimal 5.25” deep to deliver a loud and fun sound in most vehicle applications. Rubber “feet” are adjustable in height to accommodate uneven vehicle floors.
Don’t let the size fool you – the enclosures feature the same motor movement (20MM of 1-way excursion) as the full-size R2-Series subwoofers for extreme output in a shallow woofer design. At the heart of the R-Series shallow subwoofers is an oversized 4-inch voice coil that houses the lightweight and powerful neodymium magnet for 600W RMS of power handling.
Integrated cooling fins located in the core of the subwoofer help dissipate the heat generated by the rapid subwoofer movement for enhanced cooling reliability and hours of uninterrupted playtime. The unique CoolMount dual-panel mount subwoofer motor enhances cooling.
Alpine’s Gen2 DD-Linear Magnetic Circuit technology, a compact and efficient dual-gap voice coil structure, allows for better control over the motor, resulting in lower distortion and precise bass control. The preloaded enclosures use the subwoofer frame as bracing fora more ridged design and better bass response.
A lightweight yet rigid aluminum dust cap allows the R-Series shallow subwoofer to transition sound quickly with minimal distortion and project the bass off the surface of the speaker for hard-hitting yet smooth bass performance. The included adjustable mounting brackets allow for a downfire mount configuration.
With dual voice coils wired in parallel for a 2Ω load, the Alpine R-Series 10" shallow subwoofer enclosure is optimized to perform with Alpine's S-A60M or R-A75M mono amplifiers.

Along with the new 8” woofer, the 10” and 12” S-Series subwoofers have been re-designed from the ground up. The mounting depth of the 10” and 12” subwoofers are almost 1” more shallow than previous models at just over 4.5” for the 10” models and just over 5” for the 12” models, allowing them to fit into a wide variety of installation applications.

With a compact wedge-style design and shallow mount, the SBT-S10V (2-ohm system) is a perfect fit for truck applications, with a design that works in small spaces. Radial Vented VC Heat Sink & Airflow Management System actively manages voice coil temperatures by forcing air directly across the heat sink system.
FEA Optimized Dual-Sided Machined CRC Motor Structure creates a symmetrical magnetic field with evenly distributed flux density to greatly reduce distortion, while further improving power handling and output. The High-Amplitude Multi Roll Surround Design allows for extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area. FEA Optimized for linearity and made with injection-molded Santoprene ®, the HAMR surround is a key part of the suspension system that provides accurate, distortion-free control at extreme excursions.
