This L7 series 12" square woofer by Kicker hosts a heavy-duty motor structure that includes a large-diameter spider for less flex, longer life and superior accuracy. On board the chassis of this 600W driver you will find dual high-temp voice coils, an injection-molded polypropylene cone, SoloKon™ 360-degree back bracing, ribbed santoprene surround with blue stitching and a UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece, plus perimeter venting for thermal heat management.

JL Audio's patented, chamber-coupled port design (U.S. patent #6,625,292) wraps around the inner enclosure boundary and terminates just above the woofer, coupling the port output to the woofer's direct output. This also provides the necessary surface area and port length to maximize the performance of the W7AE driver.
This enclosure design has been carefully engineered to the optimum ported alignment for the 12W7AE-3 and has been fine-tuned through extensive real-world listening. The high power handling of the 12W7AE, combined with the efficiency of this subwoofer system, produce a devastating performance combination.

Housing a proprietary Class D amplifier, this subwoofer system employs JL's exclusive DCD™ amplifier technology to extract maximum output from its specially engineered, ultra low-impedance TW1 driver. By combining direct power conversion with an ultra-high current output section, DCD™ amplifiers are free of conventional switching power supplies, enabling them to generate remarkable power with unprecedented efficiency.
Harnessing the performance and insanely small box requirements of the TW1 subwoofer driver, this subwoofer system is designed to deliver amazing sub-bass from an enclosure that is only 6.625 in. (168 mm) deep. Its low-profile enclosure design has been carefully engineered to the optimum sealed enclosure alignment for the 12TW1 driver and has been fine-tuned through extensive real-world listening.
Integration to OEM and aftermarket head units is a snap thanks to a variety of input options and automatic turn-on capability (via signal sensing or DC offset sensing). Also included is a variable frequency low-pass filter (50-200 Hz), along with output polarity control switch. Adding an optional RBC-1 remote level control (sold separately) lets you control subwoofer levels directly from the driver’s seat. A quick-disconnect power connector makes it easy to remove the subwoofer when you need the extra space.
Note: DCD™ amplified systems use very specific components. Never use a DCD™ amplifier or its companion subwoofer(s) with incompatible, non-DCD™ products. Doing so will void the warranty and may cause severe damage.

The 12" TW1 thin subwoofer driver by JL Audio has a shallow mounting depth while maintaining excellent excursion capability in a thin mounty chassis design to fit into an enclosure no bigger than (0.65 cu.ft. / 18.4 liters). This 12TW1 subwoofer is capable of operating in extremely tight spaces including under-seat installations in trucks and other automotive applications requiring a compact, low profile subwoofer design.
JL Audio's patented thin-line woofer technology utilizes a "concentric tube" structure built into the injection-molded cone body supporting the voice coil and spider. This patented design places the large motor structure further forward in the speaker than conventional thin subwoofer designs.
The JL Audio 12TW1 sub also features a chassis design that minimizes the top clearance required for the linear excursion limits of the subwoofer driver. This is accomplished by recessing the suspension attachment surface, so that most of the forward excursion occurs within the frame's dimensions. The 12TW1 requires only 0.87 inches (22 mm) of frontal clearance with or without the subwoofer grille installed.
The JL Audio 12" 12TW1-2 and 12TW1-4 subwoofer drivers are optimized for an enclosure much smaller than any other JL Audio twelve-inch subwoofer driver, it never sounds like a big woofer struggling in a tiny box...instead, it delivers all the rich, deep, controlled bass you have come to expect from a JL Audio subwoofer system.
